AUSTIN, TX – A family is searching for answers after an e-bike crash left their loved one with a severe brain injury in November, the Austin American-Statesman reports.
Shea Rouda was riding a Lime bike in Old West Austin on November 15 when a serious crash occurred. Rouda was found unconscious near the intersection of West Ninth and Blanco streets and rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center.
Doctors discovered a large epidural hematoma and performed life-saving emergency surgery. Rouda is now in recovery, but his family is questioning the police response to the accident. They believe the fall was caused by a hit and run driver.
Police were not dispatched to the scene and no report was initially filed. Detectives have been investigating the accident, but over a month later there are no clear answers.
Rouda’s family asks that any witnesses with information regarding the collision come forward.
