AUSTIN, TX – A 21-year-old woman was arrested, and seven pedestrians were injured in a collision that happened at Raising Cane’s on San Antonio Street on Halloween Day.
The crash occurred before 2:30 a.m., Fox7Austin reports. An arrest affidavit indicated that the 21-year-old woman, Antonia Garcia Rios, and her friends were picked up by a friend with a pickup truck after a late-night party on 6th Street. A short time later, the group pulled up into a Raising Cane’s drive-thru.
The driver of the pickup truck proceeded to get out of their truck and took their vehicle key with them, putting the vehicle in park. Upon their return, Garcia Rios was found in the driver’s seat. The driver gave Garcia Rios the driver’s key, and she began to drive recklessly. She pulled forward and crashed into several pedestrians standing on a sidewalk.
Police suspect that Garcia Rios was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when she operated the vehicle. They arrested her and charged her with intoxication assault.
Out of the seven pedestrians, three of them were taken to a hospital.
