News: 1 dead after North Austin crash with pole

NORTH AUSTIN, TX – A driver’s life was claimed after crashing into a pole at the junction of northbound Research Boulevard and Metric Boulevard Friday night. 

ATCEMS responded to the scene before 11:15 p.m. The force of the collision trapped the victim inside the car and caused wires to come down, which also resulted in a power outage.

The driver was extricated but suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Officials shut down the area for investigation and to restore power. 

The victim’s name has not been released at this time, and it is unclear if impairment played a role in this fatal collision.
