AUSTIN, TX – One person was sent to the hospital following a multi-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon on South Interstate 35 in southwest Austin, reports CBS Austin.
Austin Fire Department officials said the collision took place in the 8700 block of the highway, near West Slaughter Lane, at around 12:!8 p.m.
The circumstances of the crash have not been specified, but preliminary details indicate an 18-wheeler and three other vehicles were involved, and that the incident caused the big rig to overturn. One of the vehicles also briefly caught fire, which was extinguished by responding firefighters.
While two people were reported hurt, Austin-Travis County EMS indicated that only one adult patient was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, for injuries considered non-life-threatening. The other patient received treatment at the scene but ultimately declined transport to a hospital.
Motorists were warned of long delays impacting both directions of the highway.
As of this writing, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
