GEORGETOWN, TX – One person was injured as a result of a crash between a septic tank truck and a tractor-trailer on State Highway 130 Tuesday.
Georgetown police told CBS Austin that the events unraveled before 9 a.m. when the septic tank truck had experienced a mechanical failure. Once the truck showed signs of mechanical issues, the driver lost control of the truck and crashed into a concrete barrier.
Minutes later, the driver of a tractor-trailer coming from behind noticed the disabled septic tank truck and swerved hard to avoid hitting it, which caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife.
The impact of the collision caused diesel fuel to spill from one of the trucks, left both trucks with significant damage, and left one driver with minor injuries.
Due to the nature of the crash, officials were left with no choice but to shut down the interstate. Fire crews were able to clear the scene by 11:15 a.m. but still closed the area for the essential crash clean-up procedures.
