SOUTH AUSTIN, TX – One person was killed and two others were injured in a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the South Congress area Monday.
The collision happened after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of South 1st Street and West William Cannon Drive, according to CBS Austin.
Austin police did not disclose how the collision unfolded, but said the injured individual was a pedestrian struck by debris from the crash.
The person who succumbed to their injuries was a vehicle occupant. Police shut down northbound South First Street, starting at Buckingham Place and ending at eastbound William Cannon Drive.
During the closures, crews worked to clean up the debris and restore safe road conditions. Police continued to investigate the details leading to the crash and asked drivers to plan for alternative routes.
