News: 2 dead following collision on MoPac Expy in north Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Two people died Sunday morning, July 14, as a result of a collision on North MoPac Expressway in north Austin, according to KXAN.

The incident occurred in the 12000 block of southbound North MoPac Expressway at around 5:40 a.m.

While it remains unclear what led up to the double-fatal crash, Austin-Travis County EMS crews arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had been involved.

The occupants of at least one car were left trapped, and two adult patients succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Authorities had a section of the southbound expressway shut down for the emergency response and investigation.
