AUSTIN, TX – A DUI suspect crashed his car into another vehicle Wednesday morning after fleeing a traffic stop in downtown Austin, landing both drivers in the hospital, according to FOX 7 Austin.
The injury collision occurred in the area of 7th Street and Congress Avenue, shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Austin Police said officers had initially pulled over the suspect for suspicion of intoxicated driving when the suspect drive away, prompting the officers to activate their sirens and pursue the suspect.
Not long after, the pursuit led to the suspect crashing their car into another, leaving the suspect’s car significantly damaged.
The suspect, 22, and the other impacted driver suffered minor and non-life-threatening injuries, respectively. Both were transported to an area hospital.
According to the APD, charges against the suspect are anticipated. Court records also indicate that he already has at least two other pending charges linked to a separate event.
