AUSTIN, TX – Out of ten water rescues that occurred amid a storm in Austin, only two people sustained minor injuries Thursday night.
The first incident took place at the intersection of West Longspur Boulevard and North Lamar Boulevard before 8:45 p.m., ATCEMS revealed. Victims were trapped between a fence, and other vehicles were seen in the rising waters. Extrication for these rescues occurred.

One person sustained minor injuries after attempting to exit the waters.
The second rescue with reported injuries happened after 9:30 p.m. on the 12000 block of N IH 35 Service Road, on the southbound lanes. As with the first incident, all victims were freed from their vehicles, and only one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

In total, ATCEMS reported that 21 vehicles were trapped in rising waters in the area of U.S. 183 Highway and Duval Road. In the other rescues pursued, some could engage in self-extrication, and others needed saving from first responders.
