News: 20-year-old woman dies after pedestrian crash in downtown Austin

AUSTIN, TX – One of the three pedestrians hit and injured by a vehicle in downtown Austin last Sunday, May 11, has died, according to KVUE.

The multi-injury incident occurred in the 700 block of East Seventh Street, in an area that runs from Red River Street to Interstate 35.

A preliminary investigation found that three pedestrians, two men and a woman, were struck by a vehicle that was then seen continuing northbound on the I-35 frontage road without stopping.

First responders rushed all three victims to a local hospital. While the male patients sustained only minor injuries, the woman, 22, suffered significant injuries. On Friday, May 16, she was pronounced deceased.

No further information regarding the hit-and-run vehicle or the driver has been made available at this time. An investigation remains underway.
