News: Accident closes section of southbound MoPac at Southwest Pkwy

AUSTIN, TX – Emergency crews were called to a vehicle crash Wednesday evening on the MoPac Expressway in southwest Austin, according to the Texas Department of Transportation’s Austin District (TxDOT Austin).

The wreck took place on the southbound lanes at Southwest Parkway, past the Barton Creek Greenbelt. It was first reported shortly before 8:00 p.m.

Although details were limited, officials indicated that all lanes in the area were blocked due to the scene.

By 8:49 p.m., nearly 50 minutes later, crews had cleared the accident, leaving all travel lanes open to traffic.

It remains unclear whether anyone was hurt and how badly.
