AUSTIN, TX – Austin police arrested an alleged impaired driver after a pursuit-turned-crash in Austin on Friday.
According to the Austin-American-Statesman, the incident unfolded before 3 a.m. when Austin Police spotted the alleged impaired driver on the 4000th block of South First Street.
Police tried to pull over the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Alexander Emilio Perez.
Perez refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
During the chase, an Austin police officer collided with another vehicle on U.S. 183 in the Great Hills community.
Perez was detained in Leander.
The officer who collided with the other vehicle and Perez were both sent to the hospital.
Both have since been released, and Perez was booked into the Travis County Jail. He is facing a third-degree felony charge for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, along with two-degree felony charges issued outside of Travis County.
