News: APD responds to collision involving gas line in Govalle area

AUSTIN, TX – A section of East Seventh Street in southeast Austin was closed Tuesday morning, July 16, following a crash that led to a gas leak, according to KXAN.

The incident, which occurred near Gunter Street in the city’s Govalle neighborhood, prompted a response from Austin Police Department officers at around 8:46 a.m.

While no information about the involved parties or the circumstances of the accident has been shared, officials indicated that a gas line was involved.

Austin Fire Department crews confirmed with KXAN that the wreck had caused a gas leak.

East Seventh Street was blocked off in both directions at Springdale Road as crews attended to the scene. Just before 9:20 a.m., the issue had been resolved.

Officials have not disclosed the condition of the driver or anyone else involved.
