News: Austin PD arrests suspect after deadly hit-and-run  

DOWNTOWN AUSTIN, TX – Austin police arrested a suspect who was reportedly responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened last Friday, June 12.

Austin Police said they identified the suspect as 34-year-old Martha Maria Flores, and said they arrested her on Monday, June 15, according to CBS Austin.

Police said Flores had struck a 33-year-old man, later identified as Jonathan Hernandez, with her vehicle on the 600th block of North Interstate 35 South.

Flores did not call 911 and fled the scene before first responders arrived.

EMS took Hernandez to a hospital where he later died.

Flores is being charged with a collision involving death in the second degree and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
