AUSTIN, TX – A driver was suspected of driving under the influence when he crashed into the back of a Travis County deputy vehicle, prompting medics to transport the deputy to a hospital Wednesday night.
CBS Austin said the collision happened on West U.S. 290 Highway. The marked deputy vehicle, which had flashing lights, was blocking traffic amid a construction zone. Then the sedan driver, 34-year-old Esau Zeferino-Acevedo, rear-ended the deputy cruiser.
The deputy was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, and Zeferino-Acevedo was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail.
