News: Driver arrested after pursuit-turned-crash in Hyde Park 

AUSTIN, TX – A driver of a stolen truck was arrested following a pursuit-turned-crash that happened in the Hyde Park community Thursday, KXAN said.  

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper tried to pull over the driver of the stolen truck at 11 a.m. The suspect kept driving, prompting the pursuit. The chase only came to an end after the fleeing driver struck a CapMetro bus. The bus was propelled forward and struck another vehicle. That vehicle then rammed into a pole. 

The two suspects, the driver and passenger, fled the scene on foot. While the driver was apprehended and arrested, the passenger remains at large.

First responders transported the bus driver and passenger to an area hospital for treatment. Crews confirmed that other occupants involved in the collision were injured, but those patients declined to be transported to a hospital by ATCEMS ambulance. 

Texas DPS is taking the lead on the investigation.
