News: Driver fatally hits moped rider in East Austin 

EAST AUSTIN, TX – A moped scooter rider’s life was claimed after getting struck by a vehicle in the East Cesar Chavez district Tuesday evening.

Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services and Austin Fire Crews were called to the 179th block of North Pleasant Valley Road. Upon arrival, they discovered that the scooter rider had gotten pinned underneath the vehicle. Fire crews were able to extricate the scooter operator, and medics conducted CPR on them. Despite the responders’ best efforts, the person died at the scene.

The driver appeared to have been uninjured. Officials did not confirm if the motorist was cited or could anticipate criminal charges.
