News: Driver fatally strikes pedestrian in Bastrop 

BASTROP, TX – A pedestrian’s life was claimed once she was struck by a vehicle while trying to walk across the 700th block of SH 71 Saturday.

 Bastrop Police said they were summoned to the scene before 11:30 p.m. First responders conducted CPR on the walker. However, despite medics’ best efforts, the woman, whose name has not been released, perished at the collision site.

Authorities revealed that the driver escaped injuries but did not confirm if they would face pending citations or criminal charges.

Officers did shut down the eastbound directions temporarily for the routine investigation and crash scene clearance procedure before lifting all closures.

The police department’s investigation is in its early stages. As such, they have not been able to provide additional information at this time.
