(512) 910-2000WIMBERLY, TX – Five people lost their lives to a plane collision that happened in the Wimberly community, approximately 30 miles southwest of Austin, on Thursday, ABC News reports.
Officials responded to the scene after 11 p.m. Officials determined that the pilot was flying their Cessna 421C at a high rate of speed. Ultimately, the pilot lost control of the plane and crashed into a wooded area.
The plane caught on fire, and five passengers died from their injuries. Authorities did not disclose the physical condition of the pilot.
ABC News learned that the plane was coming from Amarillo, Texas, and was in the air for almost two hours before it descended.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be leading the investigation.
