AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police confirmed on Thursday, April 18th, that they arrested a 33-year-old man who was responsible for driving while impaired when he fatally struck a man.
KXAN said this collision happened before 2:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12th, at East Riverside Drive and South Lakeshore Boulevard, which is along Lady Bird Lake. Upon arrival, officers declared the victim, 37-year-old Aaron Hernandez, dead at the scene and arrested the driver, 33-year-old Dontay Waffer.
Police have not specified many details surrounding this wreck or provided much commentary regarding Waffer’s specific charges, only indicating he was “charged with accident involving death and driving while intoxicated.”
