AUSTIN, TX – A motorcyclist and pedestrian died as a result of two separate crashes that happened on Friday, according to KXAN.
The first crash happened after 3 a.m. on the 2600th block of West Slaughter Lane. A motorcyclist died after drifting off the road and crashing their bike.
Officials are investigating whether another vehicle was involved.
Authorities closed the westbound lanes between Brier Ridge and Piping Rock Trail for the overall scene cleanup process and investigation.
The second incident occurred around 4 a.m. on the 13000th block of U.S. Highway 183. Austin Police determined that a pedestrian was trying to cross the highway when they were struck by a pickup truck.
The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries a short time later.
Austin Police conducted a sobriety test on the pickup truck driver and, at the time of the crash, said they may arrest the driver.
Police and crews closed the intersection of U.S. 183 and McNeil Drive for the overall scene cleanup process.
