AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police identified the person who lost their life in a collision involving an 18-wheeler on Sunday.
This comes as an update from the story we reported on yesterday that happened on the northbound lanes of the 11400 block of Research Boulevard. Police said it was 19-year-old Caleb Thomas Petersen who succumbed to his injuries.
Officials initially said Peterson was driving a pickup truck, but later said it was a sports vehicle. It’s unclear what caused Peterson to crash into the 18-wheeler, but the impact of that crash initially left him in critical condition.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services transported Peterson to a hospital, where he died from his injuries after 3 a.m.
Police are working to determine the events leading to the crash, and have not announced any citations or charges.
