News: Person rushed to hospital after crash on E Stassney Ln in south Austin

AUSTIN, TX – One person suffered major injuries due to a single-vehicle collision early New Year’s Day in south Austin, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

The accident happened in the 6000 block of East Stassney Lane, in the city’s McKinney area, north of Jimmy Clay Golf Course. By around 12:54 a.m., ATCEMS medics and Austin Fire crews had responded to the scene.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the wreck, but first responders arrived to find one adult patient unconscious, and crews had to perform a rescue extrication to access the victim.

At 1:16 a.m., officials said the patient was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital with critical injuries.

Motorists were advised of delays impacting the area as first responders remained at the scene.
