News: Train fatally strikes pedestrian in South Manchaca

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian walking in the South Manchaca area lost their life when they were hit by a train Monday, Austin Police said. 

APD officers are responding to a crash involving a train and a pedestrian near the area of Fair Oaks Drive and Calais Court. The 1600 and 1700 blocks of W Stassney Lane are currently closed both ways. Expect delays, plan your route. #ATXTraffic

This collision, reported at 1:30 p.m., happened in the vicinity of Fair Oaks Drive and Calais Court. Upon arrival, police shut down the 1600 and 1700th blocks of W Stassney Lane for the investigation period and scene clearance process. 

Police have not stated the contributing factors behind this crash, the pedestrian’s identity, and other information at this time.
