NORTH AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police identified the person who was killed in a vehicle-pedestrian crash that happened outside of the El Oceano Sports Bar in the North Lamar district on Wednesday.
Police told Fox7Austin that 40-year-old Mario Alfonso Garcia Gonzalez was struck by a vehicle on the 9523rd block of North Lamar Boulevard outside of Rutland Drive.
Police said they responded to the scene before 2:30 p.m. and declared Garcia Gonzalez dead at the scene.
Police also later determined that the driver fled the scene of the crash.
Anyone with more information on the hit-and-run crash or the suspect is asked to contact Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
