ROUND ROCK, TX – Round Rock police confirmed that it was an SUV driver who passed away after they were hit by an Amtrak train after 11 a.m. Wednesday, CBS Austin reported.
To recap, this collision occurred along the railroad tracks at I-35 Frontage Road and McNeil Road. Police revealed that the SUV driver was the only passenger inside the car and certified that the Amtrak conductor and 46 passengers on the train were unharmed.
Following this collision, Amtrak officials halted the train’s destination (from San Antonio to Chicago) for approximately four hours before resuming all routes.
Amtrak, Union Pacific, Round Rock Police, and Round Rock fire crews are all investigating the specifics behind this wreck and have not provided additional information (including the victim’s name) at this time.
