AUSTIN, TX – A 21-year-old woman was charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with a deadly collision that happened on Labor Day.
Austin police told KXAN that the crash occurred on the 5200th block of East Ben White Boulevard, which is west of Montopolis Drive. Preliminary details show that the 21-year-old woman, identified as Sonia Edith Ramos, was driving impaired when she rear-ended another vehicle.
The impact of the collision led Ramos’ passenger, Sheyla Alejandra Mascorro, also 21, to die from her injuries at the scene.
An arrest affidavit reveals that Mascorro was allegedly dancing and sticking half of her body out the window when the rear-end crash occurred. Ramos also admitted to drinking two shots of vodka at a gas station prior to the collision.
